I went to the Real Madrid Femenina game vs Paris FC in the Champions League on Tuesday. However, instead of going as a match reporter/editor, I went as a photographer.
This was my first time holding a camera in this fashion (apart from taking photos of my girlfriend) and it was an interesting experience. The technology of the camera was difficult to get used to initially but in the end it I slowly got the hang of it (I thought).
The atmosphere of this game was surprisingly hostile as regular game go. The fans were intense and harsh on every refereeing decision that went against them. Especially, when Paris FC players went down (almost 6 players I believe), the jeering and unrest was palpable. The game itself was a tale of two halves. The first half Paris FC dominated the chances during the game and were looking dangerous. Real Madrid struggled to get into the game. The first half was capped off with a Paris FC penalty that was converted. Second half was completely dominated by Real Madrid as they looked to find an equaliser. This was particularly frustrating as I was stationed on the far side of the pitch so I got no action of the second half. In the dying embers of the game, Real Madrid managed to score from a corner which put the stands into raptures.
In the end, I managed to take 300 photos with 95% not being good quality. Nonetheless, this experience was interesting and helpful as for next time I hopefully can get to at least 10% of my photos being usable.
